William Daniell's Aquatint Technique

Aquatints have the impact of watercolours. There are no hard lines.

This is a detail from one of Daniell’s prints.


If it is magnified, more detail is exposed and so also are the white dots on the print. These dots break the colour boundaries in the print and provide the smooth appearance of Daniell’s aquatints.
